| This procedure is done both for diagnosis and staging of mass lesions within the body, which helps the surgeon in planning treatment strategies. In the past surgeries were performed to acquire tissue for histopathological diagnosis. CT guided percutaneous biopsies offer a non surgical semi invasive option wherein tissue can be acquired through a needle placed accurately within the lesion under CT guidance.
In CT guided percutaneous biopsies, tissue biopsies may be taken even from lesions that are situated close to major blood vessels and vital organs like the heart. We have performed more than a thousand procedures with no major complications. Images can be seen here
